Club Italia in the Columbus Day Parade
Club Italia was specially invited by Father Caruso to march in the Columbus Day Parade to celebrate Italian heritage! The parade, sponsored by the Civic Committee of Italian Americans, is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year. Father Caruso was able to secure Club Italia with a big float to take part in the festivities. The parade was a huge success and had a great turnout of students and faculty, including Mr. Hammond and Mr. Chandler, who met at 11:30 in the morning on Wacker and Clark to start the parade. The Ignatius pep band walked alongside the float and played music along the route. A big thanks to Mr. Malatesta, Mr. Steffen, and Nina Siwik ‘19 for organizing this fun event! Students were able to wave to the crowd lined up along State street while in the float pictured below. The parade lasted until 1:30 in the afternoon, ending with being featured on live television. What a great day to be an Ignatian and celebrate all the Italian- Americans who have made this school what it is today! Ciao!
