The Harlequins Present: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

After a year of online shows, the Harlequins are finally back in full swing with their production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat opening Friday, November 5th. With a cast of 33 performers, this musical is set to be one of the biggest Harlequins shows yet. Written by Tim Rice and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, it follows the Biblical story of Joseph and his eleven brothers, a tale familiar to anyone who’s taken the sophomore scripture class at Saint Ignatius.

Complete with colorful costumes and energetic dance numbers, Joseph is fast-paced and a wild ride from start to finish.

The cast entered tech week and put the finishing touches on their first live musical since 2019. According to Harlequins President Lily Dahlborn ‘22, “It’s so nice to be back on stage singing and dancing with my fellow Harlequins. Every single person has worked hard to make this show spectacular.”

While the cast perfected their heel kicks, the crews, the true backbone of any theatrical production, put hours of work into creating the set, costumes, and props. “This set has it all—pyramids, thrones, jail cells, and more. It’s definitely challenging, but it’s coming together really well,” said build crew head Stefan Anderson ‘22. “It’ll all be worth it when you see the end result.”

“It’s a classic story with a twist,” says Lily Dahlborn, “It’s exciting, heartwarming, and a great comeback show—you can’t miss it.”-
