As you flip through these final pages of our Senior Superlatives edition, I hope you found more than just laughs over “Best Mullet” or “Most Likely to Win the Hunger Games.” I hope you saw pieces of the people you’ve walked the halls with, shared classes with, and made memories with.
I’m Alexa Contreras, one of the senior editors behind SPIRIT, and it’s a strange and beautiful thing to be writing the last words of our final edition. Over the past year, I’ve helped write, edit, brainstorm, and piece together the stories of who we are. Being part of this makes me realize how much you all truly have to share with the world. You all have a voice and it’s powerful, so use it.
Emma opened this with a reflection on all we’ve been through, what we’ve built together this year. Now, I get the chance to help close the chapter.
If you’re like me, you’ve probably felt the weight of this moment sneaking up on you. From college decisions to goodbyes we didn’t know we were saying for the last time. It’s hard to embrace the bittersweet feeling of growing up. We’re standing at the edge of something entirely new. Some of us are staying close, and others are headed miles away. But all of us are moving forward, taking pieces of this place with us. Every inside joke in these pages, every title won or lost, every name mentioned is part of our story now.
This edition is a celebration, yes. But it is also a time capsule. Years from now, I hope we’ll look back and remember not just who was “Most Likely to be President,” but how much we believed in each other. How much we laughed, stumbled, and kept going. This isn’t just the end of high school. It’s the beginning of whatever comes next.
While the future is exciting, it’s also okay to be burdened by uncertainty. But we don’t have to have everything figured out right now. What matters most is that we all made it here, to this very moment. We’ve persevered even when life felt like it was far too much, and that strength and resilience will carry us through any of life’s hardships.
Thank you for reading, remembering, and being part of something bigger than any one of us. Here’s to everything we’ve been, and everything we’re about to become.
And remember Wolfpack, it starts with I and ends with US!
With love and gratitude,
Alexa Contreras
