With a strong senior class, the Saint Ignatius Boys Cross Country enters the 2025 season with their sights set on the state meet in November after finishing in eighth place last year.
The Saint Ignatius Wolfpack are led by seniors Ethan Petrillo, Zachary Tan, Aidan Tansor, Cam Shure, Adrian Enriquez, and Benjamin Viramontes, who have been working hard all summer, but the competition is getting harder. This season the Wolfpack are moving from 2A classification to 3A classification which means they will compete against harder opponents.
As Tansor put it, “Yes, the competition is harder in 3A, but we will rise to the competition and run faster.”
The Wolfpack is excited about its newest members to the team.
Petrillo said, “We have a talented incoming freshmen class.”
The class is headlined by Alrik Swan, Teddy Lynch, and Joseph Horos, who will compete with the rest of the team for the seven spots to run at State.
Key events for the Wolfpack are Chicago Catholics League Invitational, and the Sectionals. CCL takes place on Oct.10th in which the Wolfpack will try to go back to back league Champions for the first time since 1951. Sectionals take place on Nov 1st.
The Seniors believe that they could land a spot right around last year’s State finish and are cautiously optimistic that they could strike in the top five of 3A if they can stay healthy and run as a pack.
