Saint Ignatius students are getting ready to walk the red carpet at Homecoming this fall.
The theme of red carpet won the popular vote over the four other themes: tropical, Disney, around the world, and bloom ball.
”When choosing theme ideas it really comes down to what we can make possible,” said Colleen Perlman, the Saint Ignatius Director of Student Activities.
”For example, Lollapalooza has been a popular idea pitched by the Student Council but it just can’t be made possible because of how difficult it would be,” said Perlman.
“Having a theme gives people something to talk about and look forward to at the dance, and I think the red carpet theme does that well,” said senior student council member, Regan Cole.
The dance, which takes place on September 27th, starts at 7:00 p.m and goes until 10:00 p.m. In previous years, many students have only stayed for an hour. The Student Council is hopeful that this year’s theme will help students stay longer.
“We hope that this theme will make the dance fun to the point where people don’t want to leave— we are still looking for additional ways to figure out how,” Perlman said.
This year, the dance will include features such as a photo booth, popcorn maker, old black-and-white movies being played on the screens in Tully, and other Red Carpet themed decorations.

Cole has helped with this year’s planning committee. “The features that we’re having for this year’s dance are super creative,” said Cole.
Both Cole and Perlman are excited for this year’s theme. Cole said “we are all fired up about the theme and think that this could be the best dance yet!”
Tickets for the homecoming dance go on sale Monday, September 22nd, and are available for purchase for $25 online.
