The holiday season has begun and Chicago is ready to celebrate! On Friday, November 22, the city hosted its 111th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Millennium Park. This year’s 53-foot Colorado Blue Spruce, donated by the Holden-Shaddicl family from Logan Square, stands tall near Michigan Avenue and Washington Street, lighting up the park from November 22 through January 8.
The ceremony began with a pre-show full of musical and theatrical performances. As the tree’s lights flickered on, a firework display capped off the evening, ending with holiday cheer for all.
