Stepping into Saint Ignatius College Preparatory, individuals aren’t just visiting any average high school, they are entering into a 150 year old tradition.
Saint Ignatius’ annual open house welcomes future wolfpack members and families across Chicagoland to campus to learn about the school’s offerings. This year’s open house was held on November 16, showcasing the school’s balance of academics, faith, and extracurricular opportunities.
The open house includes a 15 minute student-led tour throughout the four story school and opportunities to learn about clubs, sports, and additional varying interests for incoming students and Chicago residents.
In addition, the event does not just focus on academics. A significant portion of the open house is the emphasis of faith and service, which is central to the Jesuit mission. Saint Ignatius encourages those attending and working the event to be “Men and Women for Others”.
Members of the Saint Ignatius community facilitate this event and highlight how faith influences daily life and service opportunities on campus.
Current students are the true ambassadors of Saint Ignatius. Members of the wolfpack are able to share their personal experiences and describe their roles at school in order to provide key information about the Saint Ignatius culture.
Students often highlight how certain values facilitated by Saint Ignatius teachers and staff impact daily life and their future goals.
Student ambassador Mathieu Bui shared that “Working at the open house over the past few years has allowed me to share what I’ve gained from Ignatius with incoming students”. Making an impact on the school’s image and the decisions of future students.

Similarly, Mia Gentile worked at this year’s open house for SICP Spirit club and expressed that “Being able to share what I enjoy about Ignatius and how I have grown here is truly the most important part for me”.
The Open House highlights how Saint Ignatius focuses on more than just the education students are receiving. Both staff and students work collaboratively to emphasize the importance of the Grad at Grad values and showcase the offerings of Saint Ignatius.
This open house is a key example of how Saint Ignatius’ dedication prepares students for the future by instilling a focus on both impact and action.
